Effect of shikimic acid

1. Antibacterial and anti-tumor

Shikimic acid derivatives have antibacterial and antitumor effects. In 1987, Japanese scholars discovered that the glyoxalase I inhibitor analogs synthesized from methyl shikimate had obvious effects.

2. Antithrombotic

The effects of shikimic acid and its derivatives on cardiovascular system are shown as anti thrombosis and inhibition of platelet aggregation. The results showed that skullinic acid had a strong inhibitory effect on platelet aggregation rate in rats with middle cerebral artery embolism. Both intravenous and intramuscular shikimic acid can prolong the blood coagulation time of mice.

3. Anti cerebral ischemia

Shikimic acid and its derivatives can improve cerebral ischemia in rats after focal cerebral ischemia, mainly by reducing the infarct volume, reducing the neurological score, reducing the degree of brain edema, and increasing the cerebral blood flow in the ischemic area. It has been proved that its derivatives can reduce the degree of erythrocyte aggregation after cerebral ischemia, inhibit platelet aggregation, and thus benefit cerebral microcirculation.
